COVID 19 Vaccination and Independent Medical Examinations

In response to the increased transmissibility of the Omicron Variant of COVID 19 and in order to ensure that all parties present in conducting face to face Independent Medical Examination’s do not contract the COVID 19 and avoid a need to isolate and undergo further testing. Index Medicolegal has introduced the following guidelines/requirements:

  • Medical Examiners will be fully vaccinated,
  • Staff Members will be fully vaccinated,
  • Individuals undergoing IME’s are fully vaccinated,
  • Individuals accompanying individuals undergoing IME’s are to be fully vaccinated.

Persons who cannot receive COVID vaccination (for whatever reason) will need to provide proof they have undergone a negative PCR test in the 72 hours prior to their examination or a negative rapid antigen test (RAT) on the day of their Independent Medical Examination.

Those individuals who cannot receive COVID vaccination (for whatever reason) will need to wear a face mask and maintain recommended social distancing requirements.

The presence of accompanying support persons both within our offices and within the consultation rooms will be limited to a maximum of one person and is always at the discretion of the examining expert.

An IME via Telehealth may be an alternative mode of examination to consider for those who cannot fulfil the above requirements.

By adhering to the above guidelines, we strive to keep our staff, experts and individuals undergoing IME’s out of the various state isolation and additional COVID testing requirements thereby minimising disruptions to the wider community.
