Dr Poel is a Specialist Pain Medicine Physician and Specialist Anaesthetist with more than a decade of experience managing complex chronic pain across tertiary and private multidisciplinary settings. Dr Poel’s clinical practice includes complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), persistent post-traumatic and post-surgical pain, spinal and neuropathic pain disorders, chronic pelvic and abdominal pain, headache disorders and trauma-related pain presentations. 

Dr Poel has extensive experience in independent medicolegal assessment and reporting, including opinions on diagnosis, causation, treatment needs, work capacity, functional capacity and permanent impairment. Dr Poel is accredited across multiple impairment assessment frameworks, including AMA 4, AMA 5, SIRA and GEPI. Clinical assessments incorporate pharmacological, interventional, psychological and functional domains, with particular expertise in the assessment of complex regional pain syndrome using the Budapest Criteria.
