Dr Ekaterina Alibrahim is a Consultant Radiologist with over 13 years of post-fellowship experience. She holds subspecialty expertise in women’s imaging—including breast imaging, obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound, and advanced pelvic, fetal, and placental MRI—as well as body imaging, with a particular focus on liver, bowel, and prostate MRI.
Dr Alibrahim currently practices across several major public and private networks, encompassing inpatient and outpatient settings. She remains actively involved in on-call and emergency radiology, maintaining broad exposure to general imaging. In the private sector, she also reports on a range of high end neurological and musculoskeletal imaging.
She has been instrumental in the establishment of several leading imaging services, including the fetal MRI program at the Royal Women’s Hospital and the pelvic MRI service at Sunshine Hospital.
A founding and executive member of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Special Interest Group (OGSIG) within RANZCR, Dr Alibrahim contributes to the development of national standards, training frameworks, and policy guidance related to obstetric and gynecological imaging.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr Alibrahim is an experienced Independent Medical Examiner, providing expert medicolegal reports across multiple Australian jurisdictions.

Areas of Clinical Expertise
- Breast Imaging – including tomosynthesis, contrast mammography and MRI.
- Obstetrics and Gynaecology ultrasound and MRI including evaluation of infertility and endometriosis. She is one of only three doctors in Australia accredited in MRI-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound for the non-invasive treatment of uterine fibroids.
