Dr Annabel Carter is a consultant general physician and clinical leader with more than 20 years’ experience at consultant level in acute and general internal medicine.
Her roles span both public and private hospitals across multiple states, and she maintains an academic appointment as Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland. As Director of General Medicine at North Canberra Hospital, she has implemented innovative models of care to enhance patient flow and ambulatory services.
Dr Carter’s teaching portfolio includes MRCP and FRACP examination preparation, undergraduate and postgraduate medical education in Australia and the UK, and she has been an examiner at several medical schools.
Dr Carter’s research interests focus on reducing avoidable acute admissions and developing integrated ambulatory care pathways topics upon which she has publication in peer reviewed journals including Clinical Medicine and the Health Services and Delivery Research series.
