Dr Chris Cheeseman is an experienced senior emergency medicine and retrieval specialist with extensive prehospital and retrieval experience across the UK, Australia, Asia, South America and Africa, as well as prior frontline military service. Originally trained as a surgeon in the UK and later as an emergency medicine registrar in both the UK and Australia, he is Medical Director of the CareFlight Rapid Response Helicopter, Greater Sydney’s rapid-launch trauma and paediatric helicopter service.
He holds a senior Staff Specialist position at Westmead ED, a major trauma and quaternary centre, where he serves as trauma team leader, participates in disaster response, supervises junior medical staff and leads portfolios in medico-legal, security and police liaison. His clinical sub-specialty areas include counter-terrorism medicine, nuclear/biological/chemical weapons and ballistics, and he is an accredited provider for the NSW Biocontainment Unit for High Consequence Infectious Diseases.
